Ms. Priyababu, an accomplished transwoman social activist, has been tirelessly serving her community for over three decades. She has been instrumental in establishing the Transgender Resource Center and has authored an impressive collection of seven books. In addition to her activism, she showcases her creativity as a documentary filmmaker, having helmed the powerful National Transgender Anthem, “Vaanam Thaandi,” and a significant historical film shedding light on the lives of transwomen, titled “Arigandi.” Throughout India, Ms. Priyababu is widely recognized and acclaimed for her exceptional contributions and numerous accolades. Her unwavering commitment lies in empowering the transgender community by promoting entrepreneurship, providing employment opportunities, and ensuring equal access to education.

Ms. Mahalakshmi Raghavan possesses multiple degrees including an MA in English, an MA in Journalism & Mass Communication, and an M.Phil. Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. and has made remarkable contributions to the field of trans activism as the Secretary of the Transgender Resource Center for the past nine years. Throughout her career, she has authored three books and translated two others, in addition to writing numerous short stories and articles. As a dedicated Assistant Professor of English in different educational institutions, she has received several accolades for her significant literary achievements. Ms. Raghavan is particularly focused on advocating for the welfare of gender non-conforming children, exerting relentless efforts to establish a safe and inclusive environment for them.

 

Ms. Shanili, holding a Master of Social Work (MSW), is the Program Officer at the Transgender Resource Center. She has been an integral part of the organization since its inception, bringing her passion and dedication to every project. With a wealth of experience in transgenderism and social activism, she has been instrumental in developing and implementing various programs aimed at supporting the transgender community. Her proactive approach and deep understanding of the challenges faced by the transgender community make her a vital asset to the organization. Ms. Shanili’s commitment to advocacy and her hands-on involvement have significantly contributed to the center’s growth and success.

Dr. Solu, with qualifications in BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy), MIAP (Member of Indian Association of Physiotherapists), and DAM (Diploma in Aesthetics), is a highly accomplished and pioneering transwoman physiotherapist. With an exemplary career spanning over 11 years, she brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to her role as the Advocacy Officer at the Transgender Resource Center. Dr. Solu’s contributions to both the medical and transgender communities are significant, and she is committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of transgender individuals through her work at the center.

 

Sree Veena Yazhini, a dedicated transwoman social activist, serves as a board member of the Transgender Resource Center with over 15 years of involvement in transgender social activism. In addition to her board responsibilities, she works as a Medical Insurance Manager at Government Hospital, Pollachi, providing essential services to the transgender community in the health sector. Sree Veena Yazhini is the founder of India’s first Trans Kitchen, which she successfully operates in Pollachi. She has also adopted fifteen transwomen, supporting them in various fields, including cooking. During the Covid pandemic, she and her team managed the Covid ward, providing critical care and psychological support to patients, significantly aiding in their recovery.

Mr. Samuel Sundar serves as the Treasurer of the Transgender Resource Center, bringing financial acumen and dedication to the organization. With a keen eye for detail and a strong background in financial management, he ensures the efficient allocation and utilization of resources. Mr. Sundar’s commitment to the center’s mission is evident in his meticulous stewardship of funds, supporting the sustainability and growth of the center’s initiatives. His strategic planning and financial oversight are instrumental in driving the center’s projects forward, enabling them to make a meaningful impact on the transgender community.
